Overview
This conversion system is designed specifically for HP Velotechnik Gekko and Scorpion recumbent trikes, using a 500W internally geared rear hub motor paired with an optional 48V 15Ah lithium-ion battery pack.

The 500–1000W geared motor uses a 5:1 planetary reduction and an internal clutch for zero-drag pedaling. It offers excellent hill-climbing ability, higher efficiency, lighter weight, and a stealthier appearance than direct-drive motors.

Compatibility
This kit is designed for most HP Velotechnik Gekko and Scorpion models.
Important Compatibility Notes:
- Rear dropout spacing must be 135 mm
- Not compatible with internal geared hubs (IGH)
- Not compatible with rear thru-axle frames
- External-bearing cranksets require special PAS components (right-side PAS sensor + split magnet ring)
- Square-taper cranksets use the standard left-side PAS system
Bottom Bracket PAS Notes:
- External-bearing BB: use PAS 12-magnet split 64/74 BCD + right-side sensor (legs may require trimming)
- Square-taper BB: standard left-side PAS installs normally

This system installs using basic hand tools and includes all required model-specific extras.
- Rear motor wheel installs into 135 mm dropouts
- Controller, LCD, and wiring connect using matched plugs
- PAS installation depends on BB type (external vs. square-taper)
- MTB bar-end helps position throttle clear of shifter cables (on certain models)
- Torque arms must be installed and axle nuts torqued properly
- Battery mount must be securely installed (mount sold separately)
